To achieve the balanced and sustainable development of a country, economic opportunities must reach the entire population, in particular those living in poverty. Economic growth must be addressed following an inclusive and sustainable approach.
AECID promotes the objectives and lines of action set forth in Spanish Cooperation's Sectoral Strategy for Economic Growth and Business Promotion, which it applies in its Sectoral Action Plan for Economic Growth.
Through the Fifth Master Plan, Spanish Cooperation firmly supports the development of the production base, the creation of decent jobs, and the proliferation of small, medium-sized and large enterprises of all kinds—including social economy enterprises—that are committed to the vision and goals of the 2030 Agenda. Furthermore, Spanish Cooperation considers it essential to promote the diversification of populations' sources of income, especially in rural areas, investing in different sectors of the economy that are strategic for development and sustainability. This is why it is essential that the focus be placed on communities and on the importance of involving all stakeholders, particularly local entities.
