AECID is responsible for implementing the duties and competences of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in promoting and developing bilateral and multilateral scientific relations. Bilateral scientific ties are mainly developed though cooperation agreements on science, technology and innovation signed by Spain and other countries. To this end, AECID negotiates, processes and develops the corresponding legal instruments (agreements, accords, memorandums of understanding, etc.), working closely with relevant areas of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO), and especially with the State Secretariat for Research, Development and Innovation.
